The Evangelische Akademie Hofgeismar was founded in 1947 as an institution of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck. We invite to conferences, seminars, congresses, professional workshops and informal meetings. We also host guest groups. In our work we tackle with questions of our time. People from different backgrounds, positions and interests come together to inspire each other in thought, faith and practice. The centre of all our endeavours is the open dialogue which takes the differently minded serious without denying one's own position. The issues of our conferences derive from impulses given by our own staff, participants, guests and working groups assisting the Academy. Reknown key speakers introduce into the knowledge and achievement of both science and practical work. Our guests participate through their own contributions, experiences and questions. Talks in smaller circles and communality support the mutual understanding. Meditations, morning devotions and services give guidance to the encounter with the gospel in order to reflect one's own life and orientation. The Academy provides space and facilities to discuss the fundamental problems of political and cultural life at stake.
As a forum for contemporary questions we are open for individuals and groups of manifold convictions. We want to build connections which often are hindered by ideological, social or faith based borders. In this way we try to pay our contribution towards a better understanding of our time, a contemporary propagation of the gospel and solutions for the tasks within church and society for today.
